I recently purchased some stationary from Smiggle. Not for me. Although if I was a 10 year old girl it would be a pretty youth gangs store. I have stolen my fact from their shopping bag which are made from bamboo.
Bamboo is a highly renewable material. Bamboo is one of the earth's fastest growing plants + releases 35% more oxygen than equivalent timber. Bamboo needs no replanting, grows without fertilizers or pesticides with an astounding growth cycle of 3-5 years compared to 15-20 years for most timbers.
Pretty mean aye? This got me thinking about some stuff. Countries should see whether their climates suit bamboo, if they do then have a trial run to see what kinda growth happens. If all that shit above is true then bamboo is the way of the future if you ask me. I do not mind a few tasty bamboo shoots in my curries when I'm eating Thai food. This got me thinking about more stuff. What can bamboo be used for? So after some extensive research (slash Googled 'ool uses of bambo', good ol' Google though, he/she? always knows what I want and instead searched for cool uses of bamboo) I found this Green Blog with some pretty amazing pictures:
I leave you with my favourite bamboo joke of all time:
A panda walks into a cafe, sits down, and orders a sandwich. He eats the sandwich, pulls out a gun, and shoots the waiter dead.
As the panda stands up to go, the manager shouts, "Hey! Where are you going? You just shot my waiter, and you didn't even pay for your sandwich!"
"Hey, man, I'm a PANDA!" the panda shouts back. "Look it up!"
The manager opens his encyclopedia and reads: "Panda: a tree-dwelling mammal of Asian origin, characterized by distinct black and white coloring. Eats shoots and leaves."
